Laburnum Elementary School, located in the Fairfield District, is housed on 24.15 acres of land. This picturesque acreage was originally a part of the Clyde Palmer Dairy Farm, a portion of which is now the Meadowood subdivision and shopping center. The construction of Laburnum Elementary School broke ground in 1954. This structure consisting of fourteen classrooms, a library, a cafeteria, a clinic, and office space was to accommodate students grades 1 – 7 in time for the opening of the 1955-1956 school year. As fate would have it, a fifteenth classroom was needed; so the library became a classroom and would not again become a library until the 1963-1964 school year.
